Hi guys im planning a spin with a few friends (Dublin) just want to ask what the best route to take coming from Arklow to Wexford, would like to pass by Courtown to drop by a friends place for some rest before proceeding.
Have cycled down Arklow before( coast road) and did some sportives round that area so kinda familiar with the route so was thinking of doing r772 and r742 after Arklow till Gorey but looking into google maps there isnt any really hard shoulder to cycle on after Arklow, just wondering bout road and traffic conditions on this two roads as its not really fun sometimes when your being passed by really fast cars on tight roads:o

Plenty of hard shoulder on the 'old' Arklow-Gorey road, gets used every week this time of year for local club races.
My advise would be take the R772 as far as Gorey and then take the Ciurtown Road to meet your friends.
From there tKe the coast road down Riverchapel - Ballygarrett - Kilmickridge - Blackwater - Curracloe - Wexford.
The Gorey - Ballycanew road is busy and fast and narrow, and continues like that the whole way down to Wexford.
The coast road is lovely and apart from the first section through Riverchapel and the next few miles it is a very good surface.
Kate's cafe in Kilmickridge is a nice place for coffee but will probably be too soon after Courtown.

The R772 between Arklow and Gorey is what used to be the old N11 it has a hard shoulder for quite a bit of the way and is pretty wide and safe.
After Courtown you can go down the coast road (r742) but it can be quite busy at this time of year and is tight in spots. The surface was not great in places the last time I was down that way (could be better now though).

If you really want to avoid small roads you can go back to Gorey and on down the R772 continue on to camolin where the N11 rejoins. Its wide road all the way through Ferns and Enniscorthy to Wexford with a hard shoulder qquite a bit of the way.
