Does anyone know if you can calculate calories for routes you haven't done yet in My Routes or anywhere else?

As in I have my details and the bikes details entered in Settings but now when Im setting up routes I want the calorie estimate for those routes but Ive only ever seen that figure on links that people post to completed rides...

How is it suppose to know how hard your going to ride?
Take it easy and burn less cals, go a race pace and it a different ball of fish.

You'll be better off just going out and ride, the cals will burn off either way.

It calculates your expected average speed from your stats from 2 last weeks or so. It could do so with calories...

I'm just looking for a rough guide, 23 kph is the average speed on most of my rides.

And how windy will it be?

Nah just looking for a rough way to compare different routes, Ill just have to measure them properly first I suppose.

A simple way is to compare what percentage of climbing to overall distance does the route have. 1% is lumpy enough, higher percentage means it's getting harder.

So a ride of 110km and 1350m of climbing would be hard enough at 1.2%.
90km at 900m not too bad but getting lumpy at 1%. etc.

The calories out is an very rough estimation as is the calories in, so much so that it's fairly pointless

Maybe try and work it on time would be my suggestion
Roughly 500 - 700 cal per hour i'd say depending on wind, climbs
As said already the cal thing seems to be guestimated
When i upload rides to strava with garmin unit, strava has completely different number of cals than the garmin for same ride.
