Ant apocalypse

    Hi all,

For the last week, my (fifth-floor) apartment has been invaded by black ants. What started off as a few scouts has now morphed into a full-blown frontline.

I'm making efforts to keep the place surgically clean, and have sealed off three visible entrances with soapy kitchen towel, but there's one trail that leads under my apartment door, down a carpeted corridor and onto the rooftop balcony, where they seem to be emerging from a crack in the concrete.

Does anyone have any tips (preferably inexpensive -- an exterminator really is the nuclear option!) for getting rid of the little buggers? I've read about baiting them with something sugary, then destroying all the ants together when they fall for the trap, but I'm not so sure that will lure out an entire colony.

What about sprays and powders? Will a can of Raid sprayed a long a trail spell the end for them, or do I need something specific? If so, where can I get it?

    Thanks!

Sprays and Powers are not much good unless you spray the nest directly, otherwise they just act as a barrier until the ants find a way around.
Get several of the bait traps with honey in them, the ants eat the honey and bring it back to the nest. The bait will kill the nest but will take a few days to work.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?
