I have a bit of an addiction to checking my social media accounts. But I also use social media for my work so I need some way of blocking access to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn across several devises - laptop, iPad & phones which would only allow me in for say two periods of 30 minutes per day. Does anyone know if this exists or how I could get it?

Could I also suggest a built in bit of software you have - discipline?

Use OpenDNS and block them that way but anything you install can also be uninstalled..
If you block them at router or DNS level it'll be harder to reverse it easily.

I'd suggest only logging into work accounts on whatever device you use primarily for work and when work time is done - put them away. You need a routine. I know how easy it is to just check or even when you are not checking, you get a notification and then end up going off to have a look and possibly spending time on an issue that could probably wait until the next work day.

Say your Windows PC is your work machine. Google "windows hosts file block website" for a how-to guide for blocking social media from your PC.

Give yourself the half an hour of social media/work activity on the iPad. Try to establish the metal habit, if you're on the iPad, then social media is acceptable, otherwise it's not. Try putting the iPad out of reach, like another room.

If the iPhone is a distraction, delete the social media apps from it.

Thanks to you all for the advice. I really need to implement some of these strategies. First thing is to delete the social media apps from the phones.

If it's just your own pc I would recommend Cold Turkey. I found it dead handy when I was studying for exams.
