They're not likely to be impressed.

Note the following exclusion to the Unfair Dismissals Act:
    (a) an employee (other than a person referred to in section 4 of this Act) who is dismissed, who, at the date of his dismissal, had less than one year's continuous service with the employer who dismissed him and whose dismissal does not result wholly or mainly from the matters referred to in section 6 (2) (f) of this Act,

So if a person with less than one year of service is dismissed, they are excluded from taking a action for unfair dismissal (apart from a few exceptions).

Also check the time limit for applications for assessments of damages to the Injuries Board. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/justice/civil_law/personal_injuries_assessment_board.html#l1f4da

I know that you are not employed by them. However, suppose that you took the job and then applied to the Injuries Board, how do you think that they could react?

That's why I posted the link to the section from the Unfair Dismissals Act.

    1. Take the job
    2. Wait until you're there 12 months
    3. Sue the pants off them

there's no guarantee i'd get the job anyway but any action against them would definately destroy my chance's as you say,i even asked yer man for a job

If you are in the right I would use it as a lever to get the job,
If your n the wrong own up they will see honesty as a string point.
Report it to the garda and insurance in the meantime,if you don't get the job sue your heart out

Getting in the door via blackmail is no way to start a career. All they have to do is give him the job, get him to sign a waiver and then fire him.

You should have said that at the start. It will have no effect whatsoever if you claim against them.

Unless the guy who drove the truck which injured you is on the interview panel

I don't think it would affect your application. Firstly, you are probably suing an insurance company, not the employer, and secondly, I'm assuming the other driver was at fault, so why shouldn't you claim??

its a state owned company,so it would be the state, they are insurance exempt, the other driver accepted fault,i suffered an injury yes but one that would stop me driving in the long term no!the only loss to me so far is prescription charges and the inconvenience of doctors visits
