Many years ago (approx 15 years ago) I bought a Tissot watch.
its almost the exact same in the link below except the dials are blue.
    http://prague.tv/classifieds/view.php?postid=58475
Clearing out a drawer I found it after many years presumed lost.
Its not working so I presume a service is needed. I brought it down to the service centre in The Pavilions and got qoute of €130 for servicing.
Is this what I can expect for a service.
I have no idea now what its worth but if €130 is the ball park price its outta my price range at the min.

    TIA

You have linked to a blurry photo of a watch that is similar to your watch - can't read anything on it's dial other than 'Sport'. Maybe take a photo of your watch so that any writing on the dial is legible and post it.
It is most likely a quartz watch (battery operated) and probably needs a new battery certainly. Instead of a service why don't you ask for a battery change - not sure how much this will cost exactly but would have thought €10-€20. Unless you are aware of some other problem with it ( hand fallen off or evidence of water damage) then this would be the first step

    Thanks for the reply.
The link is my watch except for the blue dials.
All it says on the face is 'Sport' and Swiss made down the bottom.
It is battery operated and the battery was changed twice .
The first time as the watch was losing time so I thought dud battery then the same thing the second time hence it ended up in a drawer.
I will try and link a pic of my watch if I can but being on the phone I probably won't be able

130 quid seems a bit steep to me? For a quartz watch? A brand new movement is gonna be around 20-30 quid and that's retail and would take ten minutes or thereabouts to swap. Then again quartz "services" can be a nice little earner for jewelers. 30 quid or more for a battery change isn't unusual and that takes minutes and a battery is maybe 2 quid.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Thanks Wibbs. Any place you would recommend in Dublin? Really like the watch.
    Also can't link pics

Sorry B, not really. With quartz stuff I tend to work on them myself and my quartz' are nearly all ancient yokes(pre 1980), so my experience of modern stuff is pretty much nil.

I am not a watch expert per se, but have to ask you, where in the Pavilions did you bring it to?

I have an entry level Tissot, a PR100 which needed a new battery a while ago. It is a waterproof watch so I was given an option between a locally fitted battery for around 12E or to have it sent back to Tissot to be resealed. I opted for the reseal and I think sending it back to Switzerland cost around 60E. If you've already had the battery replaced, it's likely that this is not an issue for you.

In your position, for a watch like that, I'd be inclined to bring it back to a Tissot dealer for their opinion - possibly other people might have a view on that - and a lot depends on how much you really wanted it repaired. If you're in Swords, I don't swear to it but I think Fields sell them. Failing that I dealt with Weirs.

If you think the watch had a problem before you stopped using it, I'd rather someone had a look and said "yeah, this is what's wrong" rather than quoting for a generic service.

    Thanks for that!
I brought it to a watch repair place on the ground floor opposite the SKY sellers.

Anyway I sold it on to someone who had the time and energy to put into it and I will probably by a new one in the near future!
