If I have a loan in a bank does the likes off a credit union know I have a loan in a different bank without me telling them or is there a database they check up ?

    Yes, they do.

They check the Irish Credit Bureau, you can request your own report from here: http://www.icb.ie/ - it takes a few days.

Note that the report will indicate all your other loans with Irish financial institutions, and their status i.e. are they in arrears or not

Check if your credit union is a member by checking on the ICB's website.

If they are, you have to give your consent for them to check your ICB record. Bear in mind that not giving consent may indicate to them you have something to hide.
