Help - ebay/paypal transaction

Hope I am in the right place here! I bought a flywheel & clutch kit for my car off ebay for €438. Read reviews on ebay - excellent of course! Received delivery (from UK) three days later, brought car to mechanic - mechanic rings me the next morning to say he opened the box and the flywheel was damaged... Contacted company and they asked for me to send pictures and basically accused me of damaging the flywheel Long story short I returned the flywheel and they sent "a new one" (I think they just cut the damaged part out of the one I sent back and welded a new piece into it).. Went back to mechanic who fitted the new parts the following day. Mechanic calls me after fitting the parts to advise he had driven my car and the clutch would not come back up on its own and had to be pumped a few times to correct this - he put it up on the lift & there was break fluid & oil leaking out through gearbox which meant that the slave cylinder supplied with the kit was faulty.
I know my mechanic fitted the parts correctly as he specialises in opels and has years of experience.
Contacted the company AGAIN and told them about the issue - they offered (after telling me that it was probably my mechanic that did something wrong that resulted in this) to replace the cylinder with a new one, but my mechanic told me he would not put any other part supplied by this company into my car as they seemed to be of such poor quality. Advised the company of this & told them my mechanic was taking all of the parts supplied by them out of my car for me to return everything to them for a full refund. I also had paid my mechanic €300 for labour - now have to pay another €300 to mechanic & buy kit in Ireland for €700 approx.
Company advised they would not refund / reimburse me for labour so I would have to claim through guarantee provided with goods..
The guarantee is a sheet of paper with instructions on it relating to Sachs branded items.. The advert for the kit is entitled "Sachs flywheel & clutch kit" - only the flywheel is Sachs branded and there are no brands on other parts - the company advised that nowhere in their advert do they advise anything other than the flywheel are Sachs branded meaning that their adverts is extremely misleading & untrue. They did advise also that I can claim through this Sachs guarantee for any parts that are not Sachs branded, but were supplied with kit.
From reading other peoples experiences on other websites I think,by asking me to claim through the guarantee they are trying to stall me so it will be outside the time frame for claiming through paypal. They have informed me it may take several weeks for claiming through guarantee..
Am I better claim through paypal and take the hit on the labour costs myself?
I have absolutely zero experience in claiming through paypal also, so would really appreciate any advice or if anyone can tell me what steps I have to take in order to claim or what happens?
I am at my wits end with this and sooo worried that I am going to be left out all the money and have nowhere to go.
Anyone out there able to give me any indication as to what rights, if any, I have?

One piece of advise I would give is try to get some correspondence in email form from the seller confirming as much of this story as you ccan as soon as possible, I had an issue with a seller for a Racechip for a Toyota diesel engine previously which the seller assured me was my own fault for misreading the ad, misrepresenting the vehicle and any other excuse you can think of.

I had plenty of correspondence including a saved pdf of the actual ad at the time of the dispute and all of this dated information will allow you to chase up these issues beyond the normal time limits put in place. You may end up having to speak to someone rather than go through the more straight forward channels but with documents to support your story you will more often than not end up sorted out.

I have no experience of trying to get labor cost back from a part guarantee but it would be worth having a read of the fine print to see exactly what Sachs are willing to cover in the best case scenario.

This is a delaying tactic on their part. They don't want to refund you. Don't let it drag on. contact Paypal immediately.

Sorry but it's your tough luck OP, if you supply the parts to the mechanic yourself you become the parts supplier and have to take the hit of labour charges if there is a problem with the parts.

Boot would be on the other foot if the mechanic supplied the parts himself as then he'd have to take the hit on his own labour costs.

Just one of the pitfalls of tying to get a job done cheaper, some you win but as you now know you can also loose out. I can't see how the parts supplier is responsible for anything other than the cost of the parts which you can chase through PayPal.

Rather than pay €700 , contact an Opel Main Dealer in the North for delivered price .

I would open a Paypal case straight away.
You will have to send the part back at your own cost though.

Don't forget to use registered post as they can claim you never sent it back.
