I have a 02 corsa and need to get what should be a small repair to the gear mechanism but I just got a quote from one garage and think they mite be trying to rip me off. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a reliable and inexpensive garage? I'm based in rathmines but happy to go anywhere south Dublin??

Good guy on cork street. He is an elderly fella opposite the coombe hospital and has a garage/scrap yard type place. Very fair pricing and he knows what he's doing. But ask specifically for him to fix it (has a foreign lad that barely speaks English, very hard to get the problem across the language barrier).

Had them fix the wiring on a headlight and he charged €10. Another time, the window wiper fluid wasn't working and he cleaned the pipes and gave me and fitted 2 tyres all for €40.

He is right opposite the coombe hospital, up the laneway beside the men's barbers.

Pat Driver in Kilmacanogue. A little bit of a drive from Rathmines (30 mins tops) but honestly a seriously good mechanic. No affiliation, just a happy customer.

There is a guy on Waterloo Lane in D4 that does my servicing. Nice man. Very honest and down to earth. Small operation. Waterloo Garage

    Folks,

Looking for similar to the OP for a VW Golf Tdi.

Have been going to Eugene Walsh in Belfast for bigger jobs in recent years (who I'd highly recommend) but looking for a reliable independent for an interval service.

Based between D14 and D18, and work in D2 so could drop around there if necessary.

    Thanks.

I ended up goin to Dave Curry motors in Rathgar that time. I was very happy with them, charged me less than half of what I was quoted in advance pitstop in Dundrum!
