What is the VAT rate levied on cleaning services?

    https://hassle.com/ie

    Are they charging VAT?

    Do they payroll their cleaners?

Possibly better suited to the accounting forum, but you only have to charge VAT if your turnover (or maybe income?) is above a certain limit (somewhere around €40k a year). That website is an introduction service, not a cleaning agency (they make that very clear). The cleaners are self employed, and the website seems to charge €2 per hour as their introduction fee.

Was 37.5k last I checked and turnover not income. It's a pretty low threshold I think.

So in that case, if they take €2 per hour as their fee, there'd have to be 9 cleaners working full 40 hour weeks, 52 weeks a year before they'd hit the threshold. Given that the cleaners are self-employed, and don't get paid for travel time between jobs, probably don't do 40 hours a week, and the company seems pretty new, they may not have hit that limit yet.

I imagine that the cleaners are self employed and the site is just like an booking agent.
