    Hi All,

Just want to ask if I have a lazy eye but my partner does not what is the chance of our child having a lazy eye?

I don't know what the statistics are but my husband had a lazy eye and one of my children also had it (both had surgery to correct). My daughter-in-law has a slight one and my granddaughter is showing signs of developing it.

quick look up and it is a recessive gene

if you have a lazy eye and your partner does not (and does not carry the gene) the child will carry the gene but won't have a lazy eye, if your parter carries the gene but does not have a lazy eye then it is 75% chance and if you are both carriers 50% chance and if one is a carrier 25% chance that the child will carry the gene.

Once they are tested regularly as a toddler and young child (prior to age 7), it can be corrected and stop a weaker eye becoming a lazy eye.

I have a lazy eye and my son wears glasses - one of his eyes is slightly worse than the other.
It's not exactly lazy but the glasses should sort it out. He's long sighted so this can improve with time. He's 5 now and has been wearing glasses since he was 10 months. If you have any doubts about a lazy eye get it checked out.
