I have a stihl chainsaw that needs repairing. Is there anywhere that supplies spurious parts? Prefer Irish business's. Stihl parts are crazy money.

    Thanks for any help?

I havn't come across any, but imo you would be better off getting the stihl parts in the long run. What part do you need and have you tried shopping around online for that part?

Piston and cylinder kit. Carb gasket kit and other bits. EBay Germany is throwing up options.

Stihl parts are brutal in Ireland. ISE/Lawnmower parts on line can get any part you need, but they will cost you an arm and a leg. I have bought plenty from Germany and German EBayers without a hitch. I have also got a few parts from the UK and the US as needed. A Meteor piston with Caber rings is a good alternative if you can't get a decent price on an OEM piston.

There is a lad up near Ballinahinch, Co. Down, who has an ebay shop. I will look him up for you. Sells a lot of arborist safety equipment as well as saw and mower parts. Or ebay.de, especially if you are set up for internet banking with iban numbers etc. Not so many German sellers use PayPal, but I have never dealt with a seller there who was not 100% straight

found him, worth a try, but this is a bad time for buying from the north, as loads of businesses take their holidays and close for a fortnight..

Stihl prices are crazy. I'll be going spurious all the way I'm afraid.

Have narrowed it down to a few German eBay sellers just need to get the time to sit down and go through them. I know what I want..parts no's the lot. Have the wsm for the stihl 038 I'm rebuilding.

Hope to order bits tonight \tomorrow.

Just a quick up date. I got parts from the following website:

    .saegenspezi.de

Fitted and run the new cylinder and piston inn on a morning cutting logs. The carb needs a bit of tune up as the saw is using a lot of fuel atm. But overall i am happy with the parts i have purchase so far.

Just a word of warning. I had to put in a crankcase gasket which involved splitting the chainsaw in half. Get the Stihl gasket for this as the spurious one is not the correct width and the crankshaft will bind as a result. By fitting the Stihl gasket - which is the correct width the crankshaft will not bind! Go figure!

Anyways hope that helps someone out here.
