Wide Bore MRI with VHI Cover

    Hi All

First time in a long time poster, long time lurker!

I've recently been referred by my GP for an MRI brain (some short term memory loss - but the fact I cant remember my boards.ie log in means maybe its a bit more long term than I thought!)

Anyhoo, I know the new VHI approved MRI centres list is out since May and I see Vista Medical Imaging is now approved again. I've heard great things about the scan quality and report turnaround time down there (have a friend who's dad is an Orthopaedic Consultant), but just wondering can anyone here share any experiences of the MRI itself? My GP said it's a wide bore scanner - and I looked on their website and they've real photos. It looks wider than some of the others I've googled, but still scares me! I had an aborted MRI scan a few years back on my pelvis in a closed unit that I just couldnt go through with - really hoping someone here has experienced the one in Vista and can tell me if its any easier for those of us with claustrophobic tendencies??

    Thanks in advance

Easier yes - My brother had it done BUT if you have claustrophobia issues you may want to discuss with them and your gp regarding getting sedated for the scan
