    Hi folks,

Half thinking should this be posted here, but I know After Hours is usually a buzzing section of Boards so I thought it would be better to post this info on here so it would be seen by a large group of people.

This facebook page below is in memory of little Jake Brenann who was six years old when he was knocked down and killed by a car in a housing estate in Kilkenny on 12th June 2014.

This horrific event was witnessed by his Mum Rosie, Dad Chris, 3yr old doting Brother Kaeleam and 5mth old Sister Savannah.

This accident took place in a culdasac. He hadn't a chance, this brave strong little man in shock and terror ran to his mum. He died in her arms from his internal injuries. His last words to his mum where " I don't want to die ".

This group of people consisting of Jake's family, friends and neighbours are now commencing a campaign to have 3 separate issues addressed and enforced in Ireland.

    1) Speedbumps placed in all existing residential areas. MUST BE LAW IN ALL FUTURE RESIDENTIAL PLANS.

    2) The legal speed limit in residential areas in Ireland is currently 50km !!! Our local councils have the power to pass bylaws to immediately reduce this to 30km however we feel this is still too high and wish to place a motion to the minister to set a 6th national speed limit of 20km for residential zones.

    3) We acknowledge that the Road Safety Authority do a great job in educating our kids but dp we have to wait 8-10 years for safer drivers? Time to educate the adults and spread awareness.

    Help us create his legacy.

Please do comment on the page if you like and like and share it around, we'd like to get as many numbers as possible behind them and have this implemented around the country.

If an admin wants to move this post to where he/she thinks would be a better place, go ahead

    Cheers

the locals in this case, had been asking the council since 2009, to have speed ramps put in place along that stretch of road, and no one acted.

While its nice to make awareness for safer drivers and all that.

I would have to disagree with more speedbumps.

    1. The amount of damage they do to cars EVEN when driving less than 10km is a joke.

    2. They don't serve as a deterrent. In fact, If you've the right car. You won't even notice them.

    3. Inefficient and a wastest venture on Motor tax funds - There are better ways of resolving this.

20km and speed bumps? It would literally take me 40 minutes to drive to tesco.

Hi, please use the more appropriate forum. Posting just because this forum has a larger audience is in breach of the forum charter. best wishes.
