Changing solicitor

    I want to change my solicitor, how do i go about it? do i just contact the one i want now, and they get my file, history etc, or do i have to ask my old solicitor to transfer files over.?

    Contact the new one but your file wont be handed over unless you are up to date on fees.

    They may charge a scrivenery fee for copying also. If you are in the middle of a case your new solicitor may give your old one an undertaking to discharge their fees if and when they get paid
