Heard today that this race has sold out. Well done to GCH on getting 2,500 people to sign up 11 days before the race.

Tried to register yesterday and found that online entry had closed. I contacted the organisers who said that if i can find someone who had entered but couldn't now do the race that i could swap with them and take their place. So if anyone knows of anyone who cannot now do the race and is looking for a refund and for someone to take their place, please let me know and I will arrange it with them directly. Thanks a mill.

Does anyone know if there is a baggage area around the start-finish area? and is there a bus to/from city centre?.

I don't think there's an official baggage drop area but you could find a suitable spot around the finish area to leave a few bits(no valuables), you might be allowed to leave bag in the clubhouse if you ask nicely but it's not an official bag drop area so it's up to whoever you ask around there really, and how nicely you ask :)

Not sure about a bus, sure probably no need as it's only 5-10 min leisurely stroll :) Start and finish areas are about 5 min walk apart.
If asking for directions from Eyre square to start, just ask people for directions to the Claddagh( national school to be more precise) but you'll see crowds gather as you get nearer.
    Hope this helps :)

OK so lets see if this map comes up right, forgive me if it doesn't, first attempt :D

When are you planning on arriving, as I think on the galwaycityharriers website uncollected packs may be collected from clubhouse(finish area) at certain times before race.
Father Burke road is start area and grattan road is finish going by the map..

I'll be arriving around 11.30 at the railway station. I also assume that a printed copy of my registration is required? surely the day must come where displaying it on our phone's would do?. :) Thanks for map link, very appreciate, so quite a short bus journey :) not a very long walk when you know your way, but.....

And what are the showering facilities like? I emailed them and they told me there is showers, but for 2500 people? is there any pubs or places where people tend to go after? :)

Anyone else think the text results look a little odd. I had 44:00 mins on my watch mat to mat and race clock was 44:30ish when I passed.

Text says race time 44:00 chip 43:23. Doesn't make sense

Well you were right about dodgy times :D:D

I got an updated text which matched with what I thought it would be so the official times/results should be spot on as usual :)

    Got the dreaded text .

Got two texts and the provisional results there, all 3 are different and not near my watch time. Feck it though I go by the watch.

Times on the Second text(received this morning) matched my watch bang on

Thought it was a good race but the amount of slower runners who went right up to the front was ridiculous. I was in the 30-35 minute area & next thing I looked down & there was a 10 year old girl with her race number putting on her headphones.

I think this had a lot to do with the finishing places being decided by "first past the post".

I would say the times were a little out as well. My watch time showed 31.01 but my official time was 31.13.

Other than that it was a really well organised race & I will definitely be back next year.
