Just spotted a biplane flying over Ballsbridge. It looked quite old, possibly WW1 era. Does anybody know any more? I managed to get a photo of it in the distance

Most likely to be G-Thea "spirit of Tipperary" Boeing Stearman out is Weston.

Not quiet WW1. It's an American ww2 trainer.

Post it and we'll have a look.

Was it the Spirit of Tipperary? Yellow wings and black fuselage.

    EI-ABI 'Iolar' maybe?

Yeah the Stearman went for a quick jaunt over the city returning to Weston this afternoon. What a bird!

    That looks like it alright.
It is too small in the photo to make out

Still going strong I see, had him as an examiner for my CPL in 2007.

Could have done with a few more aerial shots in the video but it's nice. I remember seeing the Stearman circling the area of Dublin I lived in several times. I was puzzled until I found out one of the other regular pilots, also a senior Ryanair Captain overflying his parents house nearby. Which also explained other overflights over the years.

Any other overflights? Well that was me!
