    Hey guys

Looking for some info and not sure what I need to do...

SO got married in 2010, both of us are working and earning above tax credit so we never changed anything and have just left our tax credits as if we where single...never really thought about it....

Anyway we had a little baba last year and my wife decided to take unpaid leave, so from December to last week of this year she has been off without pay. I meant to look into it but never got the chance but she will not earn enough over the next few months to use up her tax credits. So have a couple of questions if anyone can help? rang tax office but they where useless

I was told we can just move tax credits over using PAYE online but when I checked we need to be Joint Assessed? or marked on the system to say we are married, I asked the revenue how to do this and they sent me to: http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it2.html but not 100% sure what I need to fill in here? Is it the Assessable Spouse Election Form?

Also I want to move over the max from my wife to myself for this year, I cannot see online what this is? is there anywhere to check?

Also I guess from website if I do this nothing will happen till next year as I hav gone past March?

Thanks guys!!! I tried Revenue and they where crap, emailed them and same sh*t from them,,.....

    Are you jointly assessed?

Send Revenue a copy of your marriage cert with your PPS numbers and a letter that you wish to elect for joint assessment.

    This will amalgamate your credits.

    Hi Guys

Sorry for bringing this back up

So sent in all the forms last year and now have joined tax credits with wife. Well I think we do because if I log into PAYE anytime I can see her details.

My wife didnt use up all her credits last year, so I am wondering how I get tax office to do a review so they transfer the ones she didnt use across to me? do I request a P21 balancing sheet? If I do for myself will it automatically take her credits into consideration or do I need to request something different?

Yes - if you are jointly assessed just request a P21 balancing statement. You can do it online via PAYE.

I'd get your wife to do the same as well. No harm.

Best ring them early morning, little or no wait times. Or else just request it online. Good luck!
