Government cut funding to 25 charity organisations

They've sneaked this through while everyone has been up in arms about Garth Brooks. It's a big hit to neurological charities in particular:

"All eleven of the neurological charities which had applied for a Department of Environment funding scheme for voluntary organisations have received news that their applications were turned down, despite many being in receipt of this funding since 2008. If the Government had set out to deliberately remove people with neurological conditions from the public agenda, they could not have done it more effectively. The withdrawal of this funding will lead to loss of crucial frontline support services provided by neurological charities. The Neurological Alliance of Ireland has lost all its core funding due to this decision. This means that the only co-ordinated voice representing 700,000 people in lreland living with a neurological condition will have to cease operations later this year unless alternative funding can be found. The national voice for people with neurological conditions in Ireland as a group, will be silenced."
