just wondering if any of the boards folk are travelling to the tour this year or would have any helpful info for following the race in a camper

I am picking up a camper and hoping to follow from stage 16-20

just currently planning the trip and any help would be great

Doing the Etape on the 20th (Stage 18), hoping to stay around for a couple of days after and catch maybe stage 16/17.
    Velopeloton recommended these locations
Stage 16 go to Port de Balés.
Stage 17 go on the climb to Pla d'Adet 3 or 4 km from the top.
Stage 18. Hautacam. 3km from the finish.

Just back from our week at the tour and what a trip, absolutely amazing

It was basically an international rolling party with all nationalities having a great time.

We went port de bales but due to traffic missed stage17 to skip onto the tourmalet for stage 19.

We also had the added bonus of catching some of the TT in Bergerac on Saturday

I would recommend visiting and following the tour as a "must do"

did you turn up at spots on the day to watch or do you have to get your spot well in advance?

we got to port de bales the evening before the stage came through and the timing was perfect as it really got packed within an hour of our arrival. On the tourmalet we also arrived the day before and this allowed us alot of choice in parking. The morning the stage came up the col it was absolutely packed, anywhere there was space a car or caravan was parked. id say you would have struggled to find anywhere after 09am on that day

the TT was easy enough as we just arrived and walked to were the route passed
