Better to 'import' it to NI, then 'import' it here ;) Remember years ago all the major car co's 'sold' cars to Jersey hire firms for 6 months then re-imported them to the UK to be sold as low mileage used cars at the main dealers.

My E430 0-60 is 6.1sec and is reliable

560SEL 0-60 is 7.0sec and they cost a f*cking fortune if the rear suspension goes

300SEL 6.3 0-60 is 6.9sec see above plus rust issues

    450SEL 6.9 0-60 is 7.0sec see above

    So why do I desire a 6.9 / 6.3 /560 - 560 being most affordable (tho my 430 is worth SFA at this point frown.png )

Buy a 300 SE and put the 430 motor into it!

One of my 'ideas' was to put the V8 in an early Vito :eek: :D

    This is the link here.

You can't post links on Boards until you've got 50 posts to your name (it's an anti-spam thing).
It'll be 2019 at your present rate! :)

POA again - just put a blooody price up and be done with it I say

Here's one, with issues, in the US for $5k+ http://www.ebay.com/itm/321452576217?item=321452576217&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

Think I'd prefer to get something 'cheap' that needs work, than pay a mint for one that starts giving problems one you've paid over the bobs :o

I've spent the day kicking dogs and killing flies

I saw this last night, spent the night raiding the piggy banks and found my communion money only to find out he'd sold it when I phoned him this morning - a 6.9 for €895 :eek:

'Our' Matt Roche put this ad up yesterday -
1978 Mercedes 450 SE 6.9L V8. I have been asked by my friend, Pat to advertise this car for him. The car is not for the faint hearted, as it will need complete restoration, but it would be a real beauty when it is finished. it does start and drive. The upholstery is pretty good, I believe it is leather. It is on U.K. Plates, so it will need to be cleared if it going on Irish roads, but in restored condition, these cars make BIG money in the U.K. For further details call Pat on 087712****. Please do NOT call me as I know nothing about the car. NO timewasters, private No. or Txts. Thank you for looking.
    Price: € 895

Capri, believe me, you saved yourself a load of work, I refused it for E500. It would have taken a LOT of time and money to make anything of it. I would have had no problem if you had phoned me, but I did not want every Tom, Dick & Harry, calling me, & the good side is you still have your communion money!!

Rust, or engine issues Matt :confused:

I DID see that Aussie chap that needed 3 shells to make one good roadworthy 6.9 (and Australia is fairly dry/rust free place ), but at the end of the day even if I had to knock down a wall and put it in the living room as 'Art' I probably would have

6.9 is the 'holy grail' and I'm still keeping the communion money in a safe place for the next one :p

    (We're talking obsession/addiction here ;) )

Capri, not just rusty, but quite rotten, as I said, not for the faint hearted. I would not be surprised if it was not back on D.D. again.

Back on DD with a 0 on to the €895 possibly !

As I said I knew of the (dry country)Aussie one's problems so a UK (salted roads) one WOULD have 'underfloor airconditioning' on it as well :(

The ol' 'want-want' is beginning to wear off as the hours pass :P

Yes John, that is the same car, it had been re-sprayed, I am surprised that there are no bids so far. See earlier posts.

    thanks matt

if he did a good repair it would be worth some money, i have a 450se myself that needs body work and the quotes are high.

    great cars

John, have a look at my Volvo 343 on D.D., had it re-sprayed last week, or the Merc, 280CEW, which also had a complete re-spray. The people I use are new Irish, and do excellent work, at what I consider very reasonable prices. ( E 1500 ) You are welcome to come and have a look, and judge for yourself. Just give me a call.

New Irish? Is that a football team?:)

The Mercedes 450 has been sold or withdrawn, there were no bids on it. Possibly sold it privately.

Wonder how that compares with similar advertised on US/UK ebay, are they sticking as well ?

    finishes tonight

Looking at the photos on ebay I think he would have been better just flipping it - the paint job looks ok but the engine and interior shots tell another story, not to mention the location in a yard and the rear suspension up in the air :o

I would have given it a lovely home in my living room, IF I'd been quick enough

Sold to-day for £ 3110 = Approx E 4,000. A nice little bit profit, good luck to him.
