Will I be legal? Green Card permit dates

    Hi,
I was wondering about my legal situation. I am working in the country, everything normal. Applied to a new Green Card, but for some reason the "start date" they put in it is 20 days after the end date of my current one.
I would like to know if in that 20 days:
    I can work
I can be in the country
I can register again for a new GNIB card or if I have to leave and get stamped again coming back to the country

I did search online but found no similar issues explained and immigration services don't answer questions by phone sadly.

    Thanks in advance my friends.
    Cheers
