Reccomend a decent Gilet

    Chaps

I've been getting by on a mix of TK MAxx supplied stuff, a few bits from Wiggle and a lot of Decathlon gear (All pretty good) along with jackets/gilets from Aldi/Lidl and accessories (arm/leg/knee warmers;hats etc) from my LBS.

My problem is with the Aldi gear, it's fine for what it is but I'm finding it punitive to wear an Aldi Gilet that cannot breathe and doesn't really fit into a jersey pocket on longer spins and so have been looking longingly at some of the more budget mainstream options like the Altura Etape or maybe a fancier model for cheaper online.

I don't have any DhB jackets or jerseys since my one experience was a sizing disaster with two Windslam jerseys returned due to being way to short on the Torso.

For Gilets or Jackets (Although TBH I think in very cold weather the Lidl/Aldi Jackets will be fine and I have a decent Dare2B windshell and an Altura Rainshell so really apart from the gucci factor, I'm not too pressed about jackets) what features/fabrics are recommended, what packs well into a Jersey pocket and what lights up well in the dark?

    Yours adoringly,

    FashionfreeScone.

splash out and get either a gore or endura gilet. You will never regret it.
I have 2 heavy duty gore windstopper gilets and an endura bought off someone here.
    superb items.

Cheers BCMF. Where do you stand on Gilets being packed into pockets? The words heavy duty suggest that you don't do it (at least with those particular gilets).

Only one of the gore is cycling specfic and if I feel the need to wear it leaving the house it aint coming off.
There are more lghtweight packable ones that are just as good.
    The endura one is packable.
I also have another gilet that I wear on chilly mornings that I know I will be peeling off on an hour into the ride.
Not breathable but does the job.
Got it from this crowd. Cheap and cheerful but does the job!
