Hi - I am moving house and want to get some home theatre equipment. I have read that the Sony 1040 Receiver works well with the Dali Zensor 1 5.1 in What Hi-Fi and I was wondering if any of you guys have tried this combination? Any help greatly appreciated.

Don't think I know of anyone doing Dali in Ireland from a floor retail level.
Can think of allot better uses for nearly £1000 in 5.1 or 7.1 to name a few B&W, Q acoustics, Kef etc... Just from a testing stand point Sony amps don't play nice with some speakers. I have a demo's ( on prior amps ) with mixed results from passable to drek so be careful.
Ideally look for hifi amp manufacturers eg Yamaha, Arcam, Marantz etc they know how to make a perfect stereo sound, so the surround amps tend to be better.

Hi - thanks for your feedback and for reminding me that I should stick with Yamaha - I love my old yamaha receiver - could you recommend a speaker package? Richer Sounds have the Dalis - I'm in Galway do you know of any stores where I could demo home theatre equipment - I don't mind takin a drive to Dublin or Limerick or anywhere really. Thanks

You have the Listening Lounge and Cloney in Dublin which are dedicated to such things, most larger Harvey's etc have surround sound demo area but not as versatile to chop and change.
I have listened to the B&W MT-50, Jamo S 628 and Q Acoustic 2000 Av set in recent past ( Have a bit if a soft spot for the Q's actually ).
And about the Yamaha, the new RXV xx7 series is due to launch before September so you might snag a xx5 for a good price.

Hi -thanks for your advice - I actually have found a good price on the yamaha rxv775 - much happier as I was apprehensive about the Sony - without any real reason - maybe I am just comfortable with my 10 year old Yamaha.

Do you have any thoughts about the KEF E305 (EGGS) speaker system - a little cheaper than the Dalis and smaller but have received good reviews. My room is 18ft long and 15.3 foot wide.

Your help is greatly appreciated - thank you

I have owned the kef 2000 series, which sound much like the 305. For their size they made a fantastic punch and volume and wonderful quality.
Good purchase if you get them for reasonable price

Thanks for your reply - do you think they would suit a room that is 18 foot long and 15.3 foot wide? You mentioned I should look at Kef and Yamaha instead. Do you think the Yamaha rxv775 with the Kef E305 would be better than the Sony 1040 coupled with the Dali Zensor 1 5.1?

I choose the KEF E305 because I read they they pair well with most receivers.

    Thanks for all your help
