I noticed during the Germany vs. Brazil match (or mis-match!) last night that my TV detected a 3D signal a few times while watching on Saorview RTE2HD. Anyone else have this?

I noticed that the lines around the goal on some shots were double, as in a 3d picture (without glasses on). So yes.

Now that you mention it, I noticed in a few matches when the ball goes high into the air from kick outs that the ball looks funny or double.

I am pretty sure the world cup has been recorded in 4K but not in 3D.

Anytime, you see a shot of the of the cameras, they are not 3D.

A better question is why you watch the world cup on RTE2 when the picture quality is so much better on BBC & ITV on satellite .

Dull boring predictable coverage would be my reason.

It would be great on both RTE1hd and RTE2 hd that we could detect a HD signal now and again, never mind the 3d:pac:

The HD signal is there and is detected but I think you are looking for an HD picture. Not quite the same.

The 3d detection in your TV thinks it's seeing side by side 3d sometimes with a shot of the soccer pitch with centre line splitting the screen vertically. Used to happen a lot on my last TV watching soccer but not on my current set..
