Biblical epic about the exodus of the Israelites. Bale is Moses.

Reminds me a lot of the Kingdom of Heaven trailer. That along with the recent re-titling to Exodus: Gods and Kings and the way the trailer seems to play up supernatural elements makes me think this is going to be yet another studio-compromised effort from Scott.

I haven't been enamoured with a Ridley Scott movie in quite some time.

Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

"Ridley Scott does religion" Just saw the trailer now on Mashable, looks good! Gladiator-esque look to it. With Christian Bale at the helm it has all the potential to be fantastic.

Wouldn't be too optimistic for this based on that trailer.
Took a second glance to recognise Ramses; weird to say the least!

You had me at "Bale is Moses".

While I took some enjoyment from Prometheus, adjusted now as a guilty pleasure more than anything, I would agree with the sentiment that it's a long time since I got genuinely excited about a new Ridley Scott film. He still has an eye for painting an attractive canvas, but in knocking out yet another historical epic I wonder if he has simply lost that spark that once made him such an intriguing director. 'The director of Gladiator' mentions the trailer; says a lot I think.

From Den of Geek comment section:

Aaron Paul is in this. I can already imagine it: "yo this be all biblical...bitch!"

    "Yeah Moses! Yeah Religion!"

Joel Edgerton as Rhamses is an interesting choice

Didn't know Aaron Paul is in it. Looking forward to it a little bit less now.

I immediately thought who is that unknown middle eastern lead actor who's holding his won with Bale in those trailer scenes.

I didn't think it was Edgerton before coming to this thread.

    Well done make up department.

Might want to update the op as the video is no longer available.

Not sure how I feel about the film, visually it looks great but honestly everything I've seen thus far from seem screams "Goign through the Motions". Scott is one of those rare directors who it seems never gets a chance to deliver the film he wants to and as such it's almost always best to experience his work on Blu-Ray.

Just looked at a few trailers for Scott's work and a certain song from the Buffy musical episode always goes through my head whenever I see a trailer for something such as Kingdom of Heaven or Prometheus.

    Anyone else seen this yet?

The mish mash of accents is a bit distraction

Cant remember a single line of dialogue by Aaron Paul and will have to re-watch to convince myself he has any lines at all

Edgerton is unrecognisable but plays the part well

Overall it tells the story well without being too preachy

Opportunity missed. The actual history of the Jews is interesting enough without resorting to fiction. I'd love to see a treatment of the Babylonian captivity.

It's interesting to see the return of biblical epics to the big screen after their hey day in the 50s/60s.

If John Wayne could be a Roman Centurion, then Bale can be Moses.

Wonder if this movie will copy the likes of Noah and Thor, by turning the Gods into essentially advanced aliens rather than supernatural beings.

I watched this over the week and thought it was ok, with moments of brilliance.

It just seemed like a typical Ridley Scott film that had a lot left on the floor of the editing room.

I find it quite bemusing that he can't tell a story within a 2 and a half hour timeframe tbh.

Ridley Scott, seems to have do this often enough with his movies. They get released to poor receptions, he goes back to the edit room, people go ahhhh, that's much better.

Blade Runner, Kingdom of Heaven are two that spring to mind, what's the odds same in store for Prometheus and Exodus.

Are we to get a Prometheus edit?
