Not exactly a Bargain Allert but I feel it's more suited to being posted here as a lot of people who use ParcelMotel frequent Bargain Allerts.

The ParcelMotel cost for receiving a parcel is going up by €0.45 from €3.50 to €3.95.

Still a good price for the service.

    Here's the email I received.
As we approach our second anniversary we would like to announce some changes to our special introductory pricing for sending and receiving parcels commencing Monday 14th July.

Having kept the introductory prices for two years, we need to implement the new pricing structure due to ever changing operational costs. This will allow us to continue development of our service (e.g. Virtual UK address/Free returns with retail partners including Littlewoods Ireland and JD Sports) as well as add new Parcel Motel locations across the country.

    Receiving Parcels €3.95
The new price for receiving parcels using your PMID via our virtual UK and Dublin addresses will increase by 45c to €3.95. Our Virtual UK address still allows customers to buy goods on sites that don't ship to the Republic of Ireland and make savings on shipping costs.

Sending from Parcel Motel to Business/Residential Address €6.50
The base price for sending parcels from a Parcel Motel to an address in Ireland will decrease by €3.00 from €9.50 to €6.50. Click here to see how you can save money sending parcels today.

    New Prepayment Bonus €4.50*
As a valued customer you can avail of this exclusive offer until August 31st, 2014. Each time you top up your account by €35 or more in a single payment we will add €4.50 to your account allowing customers to avail of 10 stay bundles at introductory rates.

*This offer is valid until August 31st, 2014. You must top up by €35 or more at a time to avail of this offer. The bonus will be applied as credit to your Parcel Motel account. No cash alternative or refunds are applicable.

Please note that prices for all other services will remain the same.

We look forward to your continued business.

    Kind regards,
    The Parcel Motel Team

Apologies to the mods and please feel free to move it elsewhere if you see fit.

I disagree that it's a good price. I've noticed recently that unless you're getting free UK delivery it can actually work out cheaper to pay the international rate. With this increase, more so. I was one of the first users of Parcel Motel and have used it a lot but really feel this is a slap in the face to customers. Won't be using it as much going forward.

Bad form putting up the price. Especially considering it was probably slightly over priced to begin with.

Don't think I'll continue using it after this, I hate commercial greed.

/edit, just checked my account and since October 2012 I've spent just over €200 on this service..

I'll stick to my usual routine for using parcel motel.

If they are cheaper I'll use them, if they are not I wont.

I have €7 credit left. I'll have to get the calculator out for the next time I top up to make sure I have a multiple of €3.95.

I find sending something to ParcelMotel from Amazon to be a lot easier sometimes.

A lot of the times third parties won't ship here or Amazon won't ship specific items.

Also, the sheer convience of ParcelMotel is great IMO, no waiting around for An Post, just go to the ParcelMotel in your own time.

How did you manage €200 worth of expenses on a delivery service?

That means you used the service 57 or so times!

    That's crazy!

ParcelMotel will be crazy to lose you as a customer.
