    Is it nice?

we are thinking of going for a few days. I am not too sure if it would be fun enough for our 9 year old daughter. France always seem very grown up to me.

I would prefer for her to have a week of fun on the beach, pools and water parks in great weather.

we already travel on city breaks in spring or autumn so would like her to have a bit more relaxing time in the summer.

I wouldn't recommend it. I was there earlier this year with my gf. I wouldn't go back.
I didn't notice much for kids to do there. There was a place called Marineland a short train ride away from Nice, which we went to one day, if ye go to Nice avoid this place at all costs. It is terrible.
The beach is Nice is not sand its a stony beach. It's also very expensive in Nice compared to Spain or France.
I would recommend Malaga - a very nice city. It's not very popular with tourists as most people just fly in there and go straight to toremmilinos etc...

My thoughts were much the same, didn't think it was much of a place for kids. cheers

I also found it very expensive, I remember paying €4 for a can of Coke and €6 for a side of Chips!
what about Euro Disney, Ryanair flights to Paris are usually pretty reasonable, Port Aventura outside Barcelona is great, Barcelona in general is pretty kid friendly and the beach is fab

Yeah, we were at Port Avenutra last year so not really looking to head back that soon and love Barcelona as well.

Not too sure about Disneyland Paris, went there a few years ago and it rained, I love to go somewhere where we are guaranteed the sun, especially since it's the summer hols. Don't mind a bit of rain when we head away in the spring or autumn.

    Cheers

Nice is a lovely spot but I'm not sure if there's enough there for you if you have a kid.

I used to live in Nice. It is a beautiful city. The beach has a fantastic promenade. Will be warm this time of year so you can swim in the sea. Has a wonderful night life too with great pubs & restaurants.

However, I would not recommend it for a kid's holiday. Other than swimming in the sea, I cannot think of anything there for kids.

With kid(s) in tow probably not the best base but grand for a day trip or two, 30mins away by train, bit longer by a very efficient & cheap bus service is Juan Les Pins / Antibes, nice sandy beach's & only 10mins from Cannes by bus too, much better base with kids IMO, been a couple times for summer hols last few years, not at all like the Costa's, Accomodation can be expensive though.

What about Lisbon? There's some lovely beaches along the coast and there's a fab aquarium. We took a day trip to Cascais, it's a bit touristy but seemed very family friendly.

Lisbon coast is lovely, stayed in Cascais a couple of years ago. Lovely beaches and a short train ride to Lisbon, good resaurants but nothing else for children.

I'd recommend the Algarve. Praia de Rocha or Albufeira are both very large, popular resorts. My favourite is Lagos which is further west. Great marina, fabulous restaurants, lovely old town and both Splash and Slide and Zoomarine just a bus ride away. On my advice my son went there with his wife and sons (8 & 10) this year and they loved it.

Lake Garda ? Some wonderful campsites there, Gardaland theme park, nice weather, good food. Beautiful scenery, fly AL dublin - verona & hire a car.

We stayed at Bella Italia campsite - wonderful set up for kids. Highly recommend.
