I don't know the title nor the singer. Some of the lyrics are

"Please Mr. President, don't let my Daddy go,

"Oh why can't men be always friends like me and Jim and Sam
and then my Daddy wouldn't have to go to Vietnam"

"Now little Jim just cries and cries cos he can't understand

Era of Vietnam War so 60s or maybe 70s. It's a long time since I heard it - it's a very slow tune. (It's not the one released by Pink)
