Unless there is a piece of sharp metal sticking out or the dent is so big that the wheel comes out further from the car than the bodywork then you wont fail the NCT on this.

I presumed the sharp rip/tear would cause a fail, although you you have to deliberately run your hand along it to cut yourself?

    your probably right
a hammer and some filler and a rattle can of spray paint might be needed.

Body filler + sandpaper + rattlecan with (somehow) matching colour. :)

Epoxy putty would be faster, just don't put too much on so you don't have to sand it.
    Just cover the sharp areas.

    That would be isopon38?

If the car passes, or is economically viable to fix (two window motors need replacing as it is), if it fails on anything else,I will do a better job on it including a bit of rattle can lol

Just dont want to sink any money into it before hand :)

    Cheers guys

Jagged edges are the thing nct look for so use filler or something else suggested in this thread and it should pass.

I think isopon 38 is polyester. I would get some of the putty that comes in the little clear tube that you mix together. Roll a long worm and stick it over the edge of the cut.
    Then smooth it off.

A couple of layers of duct tape to get rid of the sharp edges would get it through an NCT.

You could even spray the tape body coloured before applying :pac:

    Update:

Used some Quick steel on it and it was fine, but failed on outer cv boot insecure :(

Will they accept a cable tie for securing it?

Providing of course there is no tear or split in the boot :)
