I am moving to a different county soon. I am currently on casual signing.

Obviously, I will have to change welfare offices but I am just wondering does anyone know how long this will take? I am assuming at least a month. But I could be wrong. I have savings and that but I am just wondering on estimate.

    Thanks!

nope, just call into the office that deals with location when you move with proof of address and photo ID and you card.

they well transfer your claim down to that office and sign you on for the month.

depending on the area they ask what post office you want to collect from. first pick up might be few days later than normal to allow for the transfer.

    Op here,

    Thanks for the reply.

Im hoping for a transfer at the end of this month to another branch. However it is not looking likely, as there is no vacancies. i may have to quit the job.

Because im on casual signing, does that mean i will have to wait the minimum 9 weeks before i can receive payment and will i be dropped down to the newer rates?

    Thanks

as for leaving a job I believe the 9 weeks or how ever long it is would apply. but I think you should still get the current payment after that as they would be reopen your current claim and not a fresh claim.

The nine weeks may or may not apply. When transferring go and explain the reasons for leaving the job in detail. Your rate will depend on whether or not any of your other circumstances are also changing apart from address.
