    In the absence of Darkglasses...
Stage 4, pretty flat, should be another day for the sprinters Kittel.

Andy Schleck is a DNS today, might as well stop watching now.

EDIT: Some mod can fix the title if its not too long, or add odds as I cannot check at work

Didn't he get taken down by a spectator on Sunday? (Or was it yesterday)

Juat after froome's crash one of the movistar riders came down in a separate incident. It looked like either his bars or stem just broke.

Not a good start for Froomey, crash shortly after kilometre zero. Injured hip, wrist and elbow, but he has ridden past the doctor's car and rejoined the peloton. Mollema also went down. Doesn't bode well for the cobbles tomorrow.

Man there was no avoiding that. I really hope he's OK. Him & Contador can't get injured!

The sprints are already significantly duller without a plausible challenger to Kittel.

    So quick!

Looks like the Astana guy gets out of the saddle, which would mean his bike went backwards a fraction. The lad behind swerves to avoid a touch of wheels, bounces off Froome, who then makes contact with the rider to his right and goes down.

Froome needs to eat more cake.

Nasty heavy looking fall though he was up soon enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,819 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

what was he doing there, only seems to be one teammate around him?

For a man who is always at or very near the front and surrounded by sky, he was well out of position.

wonder how long the commentators spend between the tours looking for stupid facts about trivial things to fill airtime on the stages. some amount of waffling about a drink in the north of england

To be fair cycling is surely the hardest sport to commentate on. On a sprint stage pretty much nothing happens for 4 hours. Breakaway goes away, has no chance of staying away and then only in the final 10K does it get exciting.

Same tactics as yesterday. Why the he'll are lotto doing the chasing. The should force kittel's team to do the work.

Why isn't Kittel challenging for points at the intermediate sprints? He would be in the green jersey if he challenged them with Sagan.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,269 Mod ✭✭✭✭Chips Lovell

He's probably calculated that he won't be in Green in Paris, because Sagan is a more versatile rider, who can pick up points where he can't. He's thus saving his energy to focus on stage wins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,819 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

he hadn't a hope today with the hill up to it. probably made the calulayshun that sagan will pick up enough intermediate points in the bumpier stages, along with the placings on the sprinter stages to get the green jersey, so why bother?

Wasn't much in it, I think Navardauskas tried to push the Europcar lead out man and then Reza (second wheel) slapped his arm

I thought on Eurosport app that you could see stages of the Tour if you missed them..under the heading videos...for a limited few days

Was the case at the Giro...but I can't find them now

I know they are repeated on TV but the schedule is a bit mad or unsuitable

Anyone have an idea about this ???

any of the other teams do anything similar to Oricas "backstage pass" on youtube? Or any good TDF channels on youtube to watch for news etc of days racing?

Giant Shimano's channel is ok, not as good as OGE but they occasionally come up with the goods. Sky produce a lot of videos but most of it is fluff. Saxo's videos last year were brilliant. Jesper Riis, Bjarne's son, produced them. Doesn't seem to be doing it this year though. They still do the odd one but not always in English. Ditto Astana. BMC make occasional good ones but they're rare and often quite short.

Cosmo Catalano makes great news videos, but they're more like weekly than daily. GCN obviously great, velonews, cycling news, etc. etc.

Nicolas Roche's channel occasional uploads a video, and it's worth watching his older ones. NicolasRoche1984 is his channel

OPQS, Shimano race TV, CyclingHubTDF, CyclingHubPT, UHC pro cycling

    Jebus... Henderson:
“I can’t express how upset I am right now. Nothing to say but my knee exploded and I had to hold it together till I could get to the Ambulance. At the TDF clinic they didn’t have the correct equipment to drain and stitch so Im off for surgery now. Will know more tomorrow re resuming training. Was a dirty disgusting looking wound. I now know what a kneecap looks like minus skin. Thanks to everyone for your kind words. I’m pretty emotional right now but I will try remain positive.”
