Hi I just got my partner a 32gb otg flash drive. I just want to know is it possible to move app data to the flash drive as she has the moto g and is lacking space?

You wouldn't be able to put apps on it unless you rooted it but you would be able to put all your photos and videos on it. The reason you can't pit apps on it is because google stopped you with android 4.4.
