Hi, does anyone know / use HSE hearing aids? I will be getting 2 on a medical card and I was just wondering what they were like to look at, to wear, to hear?
    Thanks.

I had the behind the ear ones several years ago. Since then I bought from retailers. Can only say that the HSE has to manage costs so you are getting a basic aid. If you read the reviews/complaints of the English NHS aids you will get an idea of what you might expect. That said, it depends on 'needy' you are in terms of quality.

Thanks for the reply, I know they are in ear ones I am getting just waiting to "fitted" for them, I don't understand how they measure deafness on a scale yer man (specialist) said anything above 20 (decibals?) is not normal im 45 right & 46 left. so not sure what that means in medical terms but all I know is that I can only hear half of what people say to me and I shout when I talk cos of it. :o

We are waiting for our 21/2 year old to get fitted for 2.
Unfortunately, due to budget cuts there is no longer a peads audiologist in our region; and at the moment they are refusing to refer to other regions while they wait and see if anyone applies for the new, lower grade, contract!

how on earth did you manage to get in the ear ones? I had my test today (waited 3 years for it) and even though I am allergic to the plastic mould and tube they insist I take the behind the ear. My loss is about the same as yours. I was thinking of getting my doctor to write to them about my allergies. I know it's all about cost cutting etc.
