Day in lieu paid as holidays

    Hey all,

In June I worked a Sunday (I'm usually a Monday - Friday person) and took that day back as a day in lieu the Wednesday afterwards. I just checked my payslip and it shows me as being paid for 1 day less than normal, with the extra day being paid as holiday.

I checked with finance, I was told that the way they covered this was by giving me an extra day onto my holiday allowance by working the Sunday, and then they gave me the day in lieu as a holiday.

All I'm wondering is - is there any issues with this. Our finance team have proven themselves to be incompetent over the past few years, which is why I'm slow to take anything they say as being the correct thing - can anyone clarify? Or ultimately does it matter? End of the day my bottom line pay is correct.

    Cheers.

I'm pretty sure it's down to whatever agreement you have with your employer. So basically the nett result should be that a day hasn't been taken out of your allowance?

Ya, my holiday allowance remains the same, so I think it's fine. I think...

I don't know if there's a legal obligation to give more than an equivalent day in lieu for working on a Sunday - I know I don't get any for business travel in my own time, but that could a different thing.

Unless I'm missing something else, it seems OK to me?

The details you described is that there was no discussion on the decision implemented - a mutually agreed arrangement is specified above.
