Pikmin 3 or The Wonderful 101 for something different.

If you haven't gotten Pikmin 3 yet then get that. It's probably the best game o the system.

Go for Pikmin 3. Monster Hunter is pretty great but will eat up too much of the hard disk space. You can always get it from CeX for €20 + postage anyway.

Good man. I'm playing through it at the moment, just started at the weekend. Progressed through two worlds already using the game-pad, but not gonna play again until I get my hands on a wii-mote and nunchuck as the game seems designed around these controls. Just a heads up!

Really? I found the opposite, the gamepad works perfectly with it I found. The touchscreen came in handy too for moving the map around etc.

I agree that the map is handy. Maybe its just my clumsy fingers, but I find that I'm often unintentionally firing off pikmin when trying to aim or lock onto something. I also don't like holding the whole pad with my left hand with the stylus in my right. I can just imagine the wii-mote will make aiming a whole lot more fluid. I'l report back in a week when I get a chance to collect the controllers from the parents house and give them a test run.

They both have their merits. Aiming is easier with the Wii-mote, but you lose the benefits of the game pad map and the "Go here!" functionality.

By any chance do you know if its possible to use both? Play with the wii-mote+nunchuck and pick up the gamepad when you want to issue a go here?

They updated it so you can touch the screen to "go here" i think, haven't played it yet, just got to the boss in pikmin 1 :s

I already have a good few of the above - of what's left, what should I go for? I don't really think MH3 will be my kind of thing, I'd definitely prefer something a bit more throwaway.

I'm juggling between actually downloading a new game, or using the download code to grab something I already have (Zelda?) so I can sell the hard copy, so here's an opportunity to convince me to actually get another game :)

I didn't like Sonic when I played it at Eurogamer, or the eShop demo but randomly picked it as a free download and was surprised at how much i'm actually not hating it :pac:
On the third world now and seems decent so far. Not sure what longevity is gonna be like but may be worth a chance.

I played the game using the Wiimote and Nunchuck when it was first released. The "Go Here" functionality worked fine then too. I either left the gamepad on my lap or in the stand for when I needed it.

The latest patch added stylus control to the game, before that gamepad control was using the analog sticks.

That was the exact situation I was in. The ones you have marked off I already had and I have never liked Monster Hunter. I went for Sonic in the end. It's okay but extremely frustrating at times.

PikMin 3 definitely, it's so beautiful.

Makes me want a WiiU so much but sadly bank account says no for now :(

I still have to choose. Between Sonic and Monster Hunter. Not a fan of games like Monster Hunter, but probably won't play it anyway. So thinking get Monster Hunter and buy Sonic if I want it and it'd be the easier/cheaper of the 2 to get at retail(£25 for Sonic and £40+ for Monster Hunter at amazon).

Have the exact same dilemma - haven't been able to make a decision! Half thinking of just going for Pikmin 3 (which I already own) and just selling the physical copy I have.

I can see Monster hunter game to be very rare. Its hard to get it even today. Amazon still has a good premium on it. When you will want to give it a go, it might be too late or too expensive.
Where Sonic game is everywhere and can be bought for peanuts already.

    Hmmm.

Been putting this off because i have a tough choice to make.

The game i want most is NSMBU. By miles. However, i will definitely pick up a physical copy of it some day. So, the question is do i get that and play it soon, or get Wonderful 101 or Monster Hunter, neither of which i am likely to spend actual money on.

    This is tough.

(Already have Zelda, Nintendoland and Pikmin).

I prefer NSMBU of the three, however, if you are going to pick up a physical copy of it eventually, why not try a game you wouldn't normally try? For a change.

Solved my problem. Got NSMBU, will buy the NSMBU & NSLBU double disc. Wahey!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Reebrock

I still haven't done this. I'm not interested in any of the games. Then I thought: if I download a game, it will add a bit of value for when I sell on eBay one day. Might as well get Zelda, as they always go for a bit...

    Isn't the promotion over?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,837 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Unless the code was registered but no game selected, then yeah.

It was July 31st to redeem the MK8 code, August 31st to choose a game, Sept 30th to redeem the download code for the game you selected.
