    Hi all ,
I'm looking at getting a 09 or 10 A4 Tdi 2.0 143bhp . I'm looking for info on common issues with them , serviceing costs and around what mileage certain things go or need doing. Like flywheel seems to be an issue but at what mileage ? Dpf? Timing belt? Shocks ect? I'm trying to decide if it's better buy one at around 100k miles with unknown issues due or 130k miles with all the usual faults repaired.
    Cheers.

You buy the one with documented service history.

No offence, but i'm amazed you're even asking.

Buying ANY car with no documented history is a massive gamble, regardless of mileage or condition.

I'd sooner buy a 200,000km car with full history then a 100,000km car with none.

I've the same engine in my CC. Timing belt interval is every 100k miles or 5 years on mine so should be similar on the A4. Flywheel and DPF are considered consumables these days so there really is no set mileage interval on when they need replacing as it really depends what sort of wear is on them.

I never said if either had a service history . I should have mentioned both have full main dealer history and are in the uk , on a plus at least I amazed someone today . I'm just wondering is it better go for a 100k miles that has not suffered any of the common issues or a 130k that has had them repaired with receipts to prove.

The one with them repaired is the better choice.

30k is nothing on a modern car once it's looked after so it should last every bit as well as the 100k car.

Leaning towards that conclusion myself. Thanks for the reply.
