Water tank overflow.

I've noticed recently that there is a small amount of water coming from the
attic water tank overflow pipe . The water used to stay about 3 to 4 inches below that pipe.
Why would the tank be filling more than it used to as nothing has been changed.
What should I do to put it back to the way it was before.
    Thanks.

The ballvalve is not closing / sealing completely, probably due to a perished or worn rubber seal. You either need to repair or replace the ballvalve. Cheap and easy fix.

Thanks for that. I should probably just buy a new ball valve and replace the split pin as well as its probably 20 + years old.
    Thanks.

Before you change it check by holding up the lever. Does the water stop completely or is there a hiss and drip?? Is your small water tank higher than the big one?
