    Hi all
Not sure if this has already been asked / answered but I'm just wondering if you have a medical card do you still pay the 2750 in September and then get it paid back to you?
The reason I ask is because I was told lately it's not necessary to pay it anymore as the medical card pays it out right but I wasnt sure?
    Thanks!

You need to go through the whole application process. Just because you are in receipt of a medical card, does not automatically entitle you to the student grant.
Each university is different in regards to payment plans. So you're best bet is to apply through Susi, alert the fees office of your college that you have applied for a student grant and they will let you know.
In cit I had to pay €250 a month until I received my grant. The fees office then reimbursed me when the grant was issued.

It doesn't matter if you have a medical card, if you have applied for the grant you don't pay it, if you haven't applied for the grant you do pay it.

Many people who have medical cards are not eligible for the grant.

Ooooh that's grand! I repeated 6th year this year and I qualified for the grant last year so I'm assuming my application will go through this year!
So the college will wait for SUSI then?
I figured I had to pay it straight off! :o

No you need to apply through susi

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
