Wow, you really are picking a hot and expensive time to travel to a sun destination.

Any chance you could postpone your travels until say October when temperatures in the likes of Malta, Crete, Corfu etc. would be very pleasant and you would stand a better chance of picking up a bargain as schools and colleges would be back at that stage.

Firstly, why not Spain or Portugal and secondly, if you're afraid of burning to death why a sun holiday? A nice city break would make more sense maybe?

Any European place along the coast or on an island be ideal where you get a light breeze. I know Lanzarote is part of Spain but its nice and cooler yet pleasant heat there. Any of the other places mentioned be ideal too. Crete or Corsica or Croatia? Malta is another good option too.
Spotted this article from Skyscanner on Facebook might be worth a look, mostly destinations in the Med.

Ya keep an eye out for bargains too but August would be very pricey and very warm. Even July, September or October but better times to go.

What about Brighton? Very different to the rest of the UK and it's absolutely roasting at the moment.

Jersey or Biarritz or even Brittany might be options too?

Malta or Croatia would both be quite nice that time of year. Wear some sun cream and you won't burn!

Norway or Sweden are pretty sunny at this period and you may not get as much sunburn as in Mediterranean.
