    I have a 03 1.6 petrol Corolla Verso.
While driving today the orange engine warning light came on.There is a loss of power and the car shakes when idle.

    Any ideas where to start.
So far ive been following youtube guides. What ive done is started the engine with the fuel coils disconnected one by one but it made no difference.

    Any help would be appreciated.

How's the light? Steady on or flashing while driving?

Anyway, go to any indy garage to get error codes read asap.

Sounds very like coil gone so that could be one thing to check.

Is the engine down on power, and can it accelerate OK?

If the engine light flashes on a Toyota it means there is a misfire present and while the light it flashing you are causing irreversible damage to your TWC. get the faults read as soon as possible.

Yep, flashing EML more than likely indicates misfire. Get it sorted ASAP! If you don't, you're gonna burn out catalytic converter, very quickly.

    Sorted lads.
Indeed it was a coil as in Punishers picture.
Took all yere advice and went to an independent garage.
Sorted for €30(2nd hand part) including installation.
First time visiting the motors forum, some interesting reading here.

Thanks to all of you for the assistance.:)
