What is the story with the bike lockers by the pool and gym? Is it possible to rent them? How safe would if be to leave a decent bike kicked to the railings while in the gym? Ta

Wouldn't trust a bike anywhere to be honest. Good few nicked from outside Eng at the main entrance in full view of passers by.

If you have a decent U-lock, and you lock your bike properly, then I'd say that'd be plenty for UCD

True but I'd strongly urge caution. Unless my bike was insured I woudn't leave it locked in UCD (or anywhere). I know lads with all sorts of fancy locks, locked properly mind you, that were nicked over the years. Its a rampant trade in the city and UCD is basically a shopping centre for them to choose any bike they want.

They are in as a pilot scheme that was very slow to launch. You can rent them through Campus Services. Gary Smith is the point of contact.

I had one for the last bit of the college year just ended. It didn't get a whole lot of use but it seemed fine. Depending on where I end up living for the next college year, I would like to rent it again.

There is a padlock lock provided on them and you just get a key for it. There isn't anywhere inside to lock the bike to with your own U-Lock but the outside lock seemed relatively secure.
