Decided to go for 4 days to Nice with hubby in August bit of a city break nice weather and not too far. Anyone been would love to get recommendations of a nice central 3* hotel, good cafes, bars and restaurants, must see's and if I can get a day trip or two thrown it. Will be travelling Ryanair is airport bus far? Doing my own bit of research but can't beat some personal recommendations.

was in nice over easter. good friday to easter monday. there is a v good bus service from the airport into the train station which is fairly central. every half hr or less

Even though we were there for a weekend we still managed some day trips. We went to monanco one day and another day did Cannes and Antibis in the other direction. The train tickets for both were very reasonable and you can get off at stops along the way. if you are going in the high season be prepared to queue for the train tickets.
we stayed in the Mercure Nice Center Notre Dame, which we found to be the ideal location. it was about a 10 min walk from the train station if you are planning day trips, just off the main shopping street and about a 10 min walk in the opposite direction to the old town for eating out at night. The only thing I would say about it was that breakfast was expensive in it so we had breakie in nearby cafes for a lot less

We stayed in the Kyriad Nice-Port, a few years ago. It's in a good location, within walking distance of the old town, and a 10/15 minute walk up to Riquier train station, for your day trips...:)

The majority of good cafes, pubs, restaurants are in the old town. So try look for accomodation as close to the old town as possible. This ensures you are near the beach as well.
