    Anyone know what the notice period would be for a tenant in for five years?

    If the tenant is giving notice to leave then 56 days, if the landlord is giving the notice then 112 days.

    Is there any specific notice period for increasing rent? And what happens if this causes you to leave, you have to pay the higher amount until you do so or?

    If you had to give 56 days adn they had to give 28 to increase for example

    28 days written notice of the increase, if you are disputing the increase (typically if it is above the market rent) then you can lodge a case with the PRTB and you are only to pay the existing rent until the case is heard. If the PRTB rule in favour of the increase you do owe the difference from the date that the notice would have been valid.

    If you are leaving because you can't afford the market rent then you are obliged to pay the increased rent for the time left on your notice period, unless you agree a shorter notice period with the landlord.
