Anyone else having trouble with Taxsaver?

Hey Mods, hope this thread is ok.

Is anyone else on the monthly Dublin Bus taxsaver ticket? It's the fourth of July and this month's one doesn't seem to be activated on the Leap Card. Last month it came on late on the 1st of June.

I've rang the Taxsaver helpline (!) and it's just rang out. I've left messages and had nothing back.

Anyone else having issues with it? It's really annoying me to be honest. A fair enough chunk comes out of my wages for this ticket, I shouldn't have to pay again just because they can't get it working.

    Who supplies your ticket?

How do you normally collect your ticket?

Can you try using it at a Luas / train station and see if it loads?

That's the issue. It's Dublin Bus only. If you try it as you board the bus it just beeps and says 'see driver'. This is only the second month of it. Last month I went into a shop (the HR department and the leaflet from Leap were really vague) and tried to activate it, they said there was nothing on it. I then put money on it, still nothing else loaded. So I went to work, came home later that evening. Mentioned it to the driver on the way home and it seemed to have magically loaded :/ Nothing like that so far. One driver said to ring the number as it's not Dublin Bus, but rather than the National Transport Agency, but no-one answered the last two days...

You could go to Dublin Bus head office on Saturday morning.

I think I'll have to. Was wondering if it was just me. Maybe the HR dept at work messed up if I'm the only one having problems. Although on the 1st there were another couple of people stuck as well.

At the risk of sounding like my mother, there was never any problems with the paper tickets!

Have you tried registering your card on the Leap card website? It will tell you exactly what's on it (My Card Overview). You'll see a section called Tickets, with the type described, start & end date. Might save you a trip into DB HQ.

There certainly appears to be an issue with the information being supplied to Taxsaver Monthly Rambler customers concerning how their Tickets are ACTIVATED.

It is worth reviewing this thread....

Post #3 has the pertinent info, which appears missing from the Leapcard leaflet.
    Dear Taxsaver Customer,

Taxsaver monthly Bus only and Bus & Luas ticketing moved to Personalised Leap Card from May 2014. In future your colleagues will retain their Personalised Leap Card and collect subsequent tickets at their local Payzone – Leap Card outlet; a listing is available at www.payzone.ie.

From Tuesday 27th May the June ticket will be available for collection. To collect your ticket, simply ask your local Payzone – Leap Card agent to place your card on the Payzone reader terminal for a couple of seconds. To ensure the ticket is collected, the Payzone agent should check your Travel Credit balance; the balance will show as nil. The ticket will be loaded electronically on to your Leap Card when the balance is being checked.

Please circulate this message to your colleagues to ensure they collect the June ticket before they board a bus or Luas before Sunday 1st.

The tickets will be available for collection from the 27th of each subsequent month. Further collection points will become available shortly, e.g. Luas electronic ticket machines.

What is happening is the Taxsaver Rambler holder assumes that the Rambler will automatically roll-over at the end of each month...IT WILL NOT !....Each succesive month MUST be activated at the Payzone Terminal, with the Ticket available for collection from the 27th Of the preceeding month.

It should also be noted that a Balance Check does NOT require any other purchase...It is a function of the Leapcard Machine and must be provided to Leapcard Holders by the Payzone Agent.

Any Payzone Agent requiring a Leapcard Holder to make a purchase before they will do a Balance Check, should be immediately reported to Leapcard Customer Service.

Thanks that's really helpful. Possibly that's what happened last month, I went into two shops and they said my balance was zero. Don't think they knew either. I will register online today and go to the shop and ask the staff. I don't fancy spending more money on a trip into town, so I'll head to the office Monday before work in case that doesn't work!
