    Hi All,

I'm sure this has been answered before, but here goes. Do all cars over 30 year qualify for vintage tax or are there any exemptions Thanks in advance

Yes, the 30 year vintage rate still currently applies, although the change doesn't happen automatically. You need to submit a change in particulars form to the Revenue to get your car on the vintage rate.

Bear in mind that the car must be 30 years old from the date of first registration in the logbook. Therefore a car first registered on 1/12/1984 won't be eligible for vintage tax until 1/12/2014.

It is your local motor tax office that you apply to for a change of taxation class. I.E. change from private to vintage. I never had any problem. I am not aware the Revenue have anything to do with it.

Indeed, yes - the Motor Tax Office. I refer to any state agency picking your pocket for tax as "The Revenue". :)

I think if you get the form you can do via post without calling in.
