Mitsubishi Lancer 1.3 Petrol GLX mpg?

Hi Guys. I have a Mitsibishi Lancer 1.3 petrol, bought it two weeks ago as a run-around. Yesterday I put 20 euros of petrol in it and drove approx 50 mls and the petrol light came back on the the dash, this morning I put another 20 euro in it and drove approx 25 mls and the gauge has dropped considerably.

To be honest like a lot of people I can't afford to be throwing 20 euros in the tank every morning, I have my suspicions that it might be the fuel gauge but don't know how to check it. All advice greatly appreciated.

Petrol light isn't exact enough. You need to fill the tank, do 100 miles for example then fill again. The number of litres it takes to do 100 miles will tell you how hard on petrol it is. anything else is guesswork

It depends how much was in the tank to begin with. Fill it up and measure how much you're getting from a full tank.

Brim be tank, reset the trip on the odo, when empty fill again.

The litres it takes on the second fill divide that by 4.545 to get gallons. Divide the miles covered by the gallons used to give you miles per gallon. Then report back.

It sounds heavy alright but you just won't know for sure unless you do what the lads have suggested.

Indeed, the only way to check is to fill it up once, note the mileage (or zero the trip meter), then drive 100 miles or so.
Then fill up up to top once more and note how many miles you drove and how many litres car used to drive those miles.
