Hey all. I have applied to SUSI as an independent student and I am required to submit evidence of independent residency from October in the year prior to entry of the course. I sent in a letter from my landlord which they did not accept. I rang them today, and they told me that I must submit a copy of a lease or a utility bill in my name, but I don't have either. I have bank statements showing rent paid but they will not accept them. I have been paying rent since September last year. My landlord lives in the house and so the bills are all in her name. What can I do? Help!

Are you on a SW payment, and if so is it to your current address? If so then you could submit this. However, minus a lease, utility bill etc in your name to your address you may have trouble proving this.

If you are paying rent to your Landlord he should have you registered as a Tenant with the PRTB (Private Residential Tenancy Board). You can ring them (0818303037) and ask them to send you a letter confirming that you are registered as a Tenant.
