Jobs in remote places

I hate the city life. Would much prefer to be working in the middle of nowhere, I would be looking for electronic engineering / programming jobs, but I'd consider anything.

I applied for a job in Antarctica once but didn't get it. I was scalded :( so no limit to how remote it can be.

Any ideas where to look? I tried googling for remote jobs but not much of interest comes up at the minute

    International space station?
    Mars one?
    Oil rigs?
    Canadian or Australian outback?
    Pacific island?
    Cargo ship?
    Etc

I once saw a job advertised at a TV station on the Falkland Islands. In fact, it was THE TV station on the falklands. I didn't apply mind.

But are there any decent jobs going there?

Im sure you can get something in the area of programming and work from home. I know of an odd person here and there who did it but they tended to start out by working on site.
All you would need is a decent internet connection. Well, acceptable internet connection. Eircom do "fiber" now so that might help.

Have you considered field service engineer role. That's just a load of travel driving on your own. Might suit what your looking for.

Applied for a few, but again hard enough to break into I think.

Can I just point out that unless you're a field engineer for farm equipment you're likely to end up driving to cities most of the time?

Sadly electronics engineering and programming aren't the most suitable for working in the boonies.

What has that to do with anything. Your driving in your own you work on your own. I know this as I used to do it.

Didn't go back to it as didn't actually enjoy all the travel and lonely daily slog.

Go into the wind generation industry? You'd be in the countryside and it must be well payed.

Teach English in Mongolia. AMAZING COUNTRY! The closest you'll get to time travel.

OP, do you want the middle of nowhere because you don't like infrastructure, or because you don't want to be around people?
