Pannier For Racing Bike

    Hi all,

    Wondering if someone out there can help;

    I have a carbon fibre Planet X racer that I've done single day trips of up to 250kms on, however these have always been with a bag on my back.

    I'm planning on doing some multiple day cycles around England in the coming months and have realised I'll probably need a pannier if I'm to avoid a back operation. Unfortunately, carbon fibre racers don't seem to be made for carrying panniers.

    My options seem to be limited to getting a seatpost-secured pannier - with a 10kg weight limit. I'm not entirely sure just yet how much I'll need, but I imagine I could probably get a chunky handlebar pack as well.

    Does anyone have any advice/warnings/tips for this sort of thing. If I pack really light (shorts/tshirt/waterproof/credit card) should I get away with 10kgs?

    All help much appreciated!

    Pete
